Helping Rheumatoid Arthritis patients understand their treatments choices…
Many patients newly diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis turn to Google when researching their treatment. So, we’ve been working closely with medac Pharma to help address some patients’ concerns over a popular treatment drug called Methotrexate.
Methotrexate has been around since 1947 and is the gold standard drug to effectively treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. But despite reams of positive clinical evidence, there was confusion amongst some patients and healthcare professionals surrounding Methotrexate and its associated side-effects. We were brought in by medac Pharma to help give a balanced account of Methotrexate through the medium of an animated film.
We began, as we always do, with research; we spoke to patients, nurses, consultant rheumatologists and read rolls of clinical papers. All of that information was then condensed into a short script, which went on to be approved by medac Pharma & the independent charity; National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. Our primary audience spanned recently diagnosed patients, so we needed a visual language that was both informative and easy to understand. The result was warm tones, digestible information and gentle visual storytelling all designed to get the message across in a relatable and sensitive way.
The video is accredited by the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society and will sit on their website and with medac Pharma staff as an information tool to be used at conferences, in hospitals & waiting rooms.
