One rainy day in September, Taxi treated some members of Carlsberg to a real taste of The West Country. With most of our European clients only familiar to Bristol’s urban surroundings, a trip deep into the heart of Somerset to sip on some of the country’s finest cider promised an experience to remember.
Wilkins Farmhouse Cider was the first pit-stop, where they were welcomed by a deliciously potent spread of cheese and pickled onions to accompany the farm’s famous cider. Roger Wilkins - a living legend of the cider world - wowed the team not only with his sharp-witted humour, but also with his traditional methods of making a good pint.
By mid-afternoon the tour moved on to Rich’s Cider Barn at Highbridge, where they had a hearty meal, ‘enjoyed the museum’ and even more varieties of cider.
Later, the team arrived back in the city to explore the cider-world by boat. Well, the anchored kind at least; The Apple on Bristol’s Welsh Back. Scanning the bar menu was confirmation that their day was a success, having sampled most of what was on offer already right from the source!
