Last month in a rather grand Parisian setting, the Taxi Studio directors attended the sixth annual Pentawards Ceremony where they had the honour of collecting a Bronze for Coca-Cola brand Tumult.
The Great and the Good of the design world were all in glittering attendance, which inevitably prompted a quick dash to the bar to take cover! The appeal of the bar proved so great that the boys even missed their names being called out; collecting the award at the interval instead. A voice across the PA system joked: "Perhaps they couldn't find a taxi!"
Luckily they did find Bruce Duckworth however, who's been an inspiration to Spencer, Al and Ryan from the early days. His agency, Turner Duckworth were there to collect six awards that evening, including the Best of Show Diamond Pentaward for Diet Coke.
Although the evening became progressively hazy it's also one that's unlikely to be forgotten for a long time, with MD & Strategy Director Brian Mansfield commenting: "It's only when you see the company you're in that you realise just how prestigious the Pentawards really is."
Some weeks later we were invited up to Taschen HQ in London along with the other winners to sign the Pentawards annual, a compendium that is permanently kept in the archives. Senior Designer Casey Sampson was in attendance: "It was a real pleasure to attend as Tumult was my first job at Taxi and a great project to work on. We had a really clear brief and objective from the outset, taking the brand on to something even more visually impactful for a wider audience."
